The West Liberty Community Schools partnered with Shaking Earth Digital and won a STEM Best Grant, intended to help schools work with local STEM businesses to engage students in STEM and prepare them for STEM careers
Shaking Earth Digital wrote a computer program, IDR, that teaches students how to code in Virtual Reality. Wearing VR headsets and using VR controllers, students are immersed in a 3d world where they are able to make an app, game, or environment.
By being immersed in the code itself, students are able to literally see the connections in their program and interact with it. This provides an immersive and intuitive experience for the students– and being in VR adds an element of excitement for them as well.
