The West Liberty Downtown Farmers Market will kick off on Wednesday, May 3 and fresh produce will be sold every Wednesday through October from 4 pm to 7 pm. On October 27 from 6-9 pm the West Liberty Public Library invites 4 th -8 th graders to play a series of games in the dark and then settle in with a snack and some ghost stories by the glow of your flashlights. Bring a cozy blanket, wear your pj’s, and don’t forget your flashlight.
Tour some of the historically haunted sites of downtown West Liberty October 28 at 6:30 pm. As the sun sets on our haunted sites participants will be privy to ghost stories and a reading from a psychic medium in one of the oldest buildings in town. Our Redeemer Lutheran Church will host a brat bash on Tuesday, October 31, from 11 am to 1 pm at Fred’s Feed. Brats, hot dogs, chips, water and homemade cookies will be served. Cost $5
The West Liberty Trick or Treat Trail returns October 31 from 5-6 pm. Starting on the south side of the high school parking lot, the trail follows the walking trail and ends with free pizza in Railroad Park. Local businesses will be handing out candy all along the trail. If your children (or you) want more treats, the citywide trick or treating follows from 6-7 pm. That should take care of your candy supply for awhile.
The West Liberty United Methodist Church (113 E. 5 th Street) will host a Harvest Lunch on Thursday, November 2, from 11 am to 1 pm with free will offering. Have lunch with your co-workers, family and friends for a great buffet of food – hot dishes, salads, desserts, and drink.
Join members of the Iowa Holocaust Council and educator Brad Wilkening as he talks about the lessons of the Holocaust and how they can be applied to today’s world. The program will be at the West Liberty Public Library November 5 th from 6:30-8 pm. All are welcome.
